Hanging of the Greens
Cooper Hall decked out for Christmas during second annual Hanging of the Greens

Nearly a dozen students and several SC staff and alumni turned out on a November Saturday morning to deck the “Cooper” halls during the second annual Hanging of the Greens, an event sponsored by the Alumni Office. “The Hanging of the Greens event was an idea from a Sterling College alum who thought that ‘hanging the greens’ in Cooper Hall would be a neat way for alumni and students to collaborate on a fun and celebratory season of the year,” explained Sterling Alumni Director Tarah Colvin.  “Because Cooper Hall is such a signature landmark for the College, it seemed fitting to decorate that building for Christmas.”  “Decorating Cooper for Christmas looked like a fun tradition to participate in,” said Senior Lindsey Brunson.  “The morning was a little bit of early Christmas with festive music and friends.” Decorations in the building include electric candles in all east windows that are turned on every night, greenery and lights weaved around all four levels of the stairway banister, two Christmas trees, wreaths and several nativity sets, among others. An open house for the Rice County community was held on Tuesday, December 13.  Community members were invited to tour the building, meet Sterling’s new president, Dr. Douglas, enjoy refreshments and have their kids visit Santa.

All Sterling College employees, students and area alumni were invited to participate.  If you missed this year’s event, be sure and join us next fall!
