Capital Campaign

The most recent Capital Campaign conducted by Sterling College was The Return of Cooper Hall. This campaign was a three-year activity to raise a total of $11,750,000. The primary project of the campaign was the renovation of the College’s original bulding – Cooper Hall. It is a four-story limestone building which had been closed for 15 years (from 1988 to 2003). The campaign, which occurred during the academic years of 2000-2001, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003, raised a total of $10,073,750 for the projects within the campaign and an additional 6,888,927 for activities that were outside the original campaign projects. Some of the additional funds were allowed to be used for the purposes of the campaign, thus allowing the College to complete the goals of the campaign.

Currently, all pledges to the campaign have been paid except a remaining balance of $227,829 in outstanding pledges from 248 supporting partners. The College anticipates receiving a high percentage of this balance, thus having a very small percentage of pledges that it will have to “write off.”

Sterling’s next capital campaign will most likely be in the near future following the arrival of the 10th president. The College is currently in the search process to select a new president. The search timetable calls for the next president to take office in the summer of 2005.
