Spring Shindig 2004

The Spring Shindig, a campus-wide service project, was held on Friday, May 7, 2004. More than 130 students, faculty and staff turned out to participate in projects such as “SC Seeders,” “Sputnik Sprucers,” Weeding Warriors,” “McCreery Bloomers,” “Squeegee Slingers,” and “Pampas Poachers.” Together the campus worked to plant flowers, weed and clean-up around building exteriors, pick up branches, edge and weed sidewalks, wash windows, plus many more beautification projects. Fifteen projects were completed throughout the afternoon of service.

Service teams were divided by major and traveling trophies were awarded in three categories. The Elementary Education majors took home the Spirit trophy (the History majors were runners-up) while the Theatre majors took home the trophies for the dirtiest members and the major with the greatest percentage of participants (followed by the Computer Science majors). The Business Administration majors got the perseverance acknowledgement for working tirelessly in the “desert” (the sand volleyball courts).

Following the completion of the Shindig, a campus-wide picnic was held at Sputnik.
